Who are these folks, and why are they helping these beautiful dogs?

This is the puppy that started us on our journey to help these great dogs - Nichole
John and Linda Kryder operate a volunteer animal rescue group known as Great Pyrenees Rescue. They became involved in saving Pyrenees after they adopted the first dog they ever owned in March of 1994. She was a Great Pyrenees puppy named Nichole. At the time they adopted her, John was 65 years young, proving any age is right to get your first dog.
No one could possibly imagine the trials and tribulations they experienced in learning to live with such an independent and intelligent Great Pyrenees puppy. In desperation, they joined the Great Pyrenees Club of America, participated in the activities of a regional club, and, eventually, became involved in the club’s rescue program. One thing led to another, and in 1996 John & Linda separated from the club and formed PYRescue. Since then they have independently and actively worked to place unwanted or abused Great Pyrenees dogs in loving, caring new homes. On the average, they rescue one or two Great Pyrenees per week, and have placed over 800 dogs to date!
John and Linda run a top notch facility, which can be seen on our Facilities page. The Pyrs awaiting placement have a great meadow to run and play in, comfy beds, and an air conditioned and heated kennel!
All funding for their efforts is paid from tax deductible donations or from the Kryder’s own pockets, including travel costs, Vet bills, etc. On the average, the Kryder’s have been spending about $5000/year of their funds in addition to donations. They are accepted members of the Great Pyrenees Club of America and are the Great Pyrenees rescue agents for All Breed Rescue Network, Inc. of Denver, Colorado.
Please think about sponsoring a Pyr we currently are sheltering, or if you'd like to make a deduction to help these wonderful animals, please contact us.
